Sonja Skovsted, PA, was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and raised in Boulder, Colorado. Drawn to the coast, she relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Eckerd College. While in Florida, Sonja developed a strong interest in environmental science, particularly sea turtle conservation and gopher tortoise research. These experiences, combined with a growing interest in human health, ultimately led her to pursue a career in medicine.

Sonja became licensed as an EMT and spent several years working on an ambulance, gaining valuable hands-on clinical experience. Eager to further expand her medical knowledge and scope of practice, she went on to complete a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Pacific University in Oregon. With over 15 years of experience as a Physician Assistant, Sonja delivers comprehensive, patient-centered care across a wide range of health needs, with additional experience in pediatrics, orthopedics, and urgent care.

Sonja’s practice philosophy centers on treating the whole person, with a strong emphasis on preventive care, patient education, and sustainable lifestyle changes. She is passionate about empowering patients through education on healthy living, the benefits of regular physical activity, and proactive wellness strategies that support long-term health.

Outside of clinical practice, Sonja is a parent to two children and spends much of her time supporting their activities. When time allows, she enjoys being outdoors—skiing, hiking, and playing volleyball—as well as reading, following Portland soccer, and exploring Ayurveda and integrative approaches to wellness.
