Dr. Yamase completed his residency at Providence Portland Medical Center 1989 and completed Chief Residency in 1990. He became Board Certified in Internal Medicine in September 1989. For 12 years, Dr. Yamase was Medical Director of Sunnyside Medical Group from 1992-2004.

He chose Internal Medicine because he believes it is the specialty that allows him, as a physician, to oversee the health care needs of the whole person.  Dr. Yamase believes there is a huge interplay between one’s physical health and the social, psychological and spiritual aspect of a person’s well-being.  As an internist, he is able to address all of these areas.  Dr. Yamase encourages patients to be actively involved in their own medical care by asking questions and discussing treatment options.  He is a strong advocate of preventing disease before it happens.

Dr. Yamase was born and raised in Hawaii and graduated from Whitworth University in Spokane.  He returned to Hawaii for medical school and has lived in Canby since 2000 and he has always wondered what it would be like to practice in the community he lives in.  Dr. Yamase feels this practice will allow him to do that and give back to his community in a very concrete way.  He is excited about this.

Dr. Yamase likes to spend his free time with his wife and family, gardening, finding fun restaurants to explore and being involved in his church as they strive to be more locally and globally active.
